Raclette pans: replacements, sizes, materials and care

Updated: 1 November 2026. Prices and stock as shown on the shop pages that day; they can change at any time.

Short answer: there is no standard size, so a replacement pan has to match your machine in length, width and height; use coated pans only with wooden or plastic spatulas [5] and never leave them empty under the hot heating element [6].

A pan is scratched or lost, or you need more for extra guests? Three things matter: the replacement has to fit your machine, the material has to suit how you use it, and it needs the right care.

1. Will it fit my machine?

There is no standard size; dimensions vary by manufacturer. Some examples (all shown as in stock on 1.11.2026):

Example Outer size Usable area Price Source
Raclette Suisse, pan with plastic handle 18 × 8.3 cm (length incl. handle) 7.5 × 8.5 cm CHF 9.50 incl. VAT, plus shipping [1]
BBQ-Toro, cast iron, set of 6 18 × 12.5 × 2 cm 11 × 9 cm CHF 95.– sale price (regular CHF 119.–), incl. VAT, plus shipping [2]
Raclette-Schweiz.ch, uncoated stainless steel (for their own ovens) about 36 × 8 × 2.3 cm – CHF 99.– excl. VAT [3]
Creasteel, stainless steel, for a fire bowl 40 cm long (24 cm without handle), 8.5 cm wide – CHF 109.– Black Friday offer (regular CHF 149.–), incl. VAT [4]

The two reduced prices are temporary; the shop pages do not say how long they apply. Check the current price before you buy.

How to go about it:

  1. Measure an old pan: length with handle, width, height.
  2. Measure the slot in the machine, including its height.
  3. Look for a replacement from your machine's manufacturer first.
  4. Buy pans from another brand only if all the measurements match.

The retailer describes the BBQ-Toro cast-iron pans as meant for the oven, the barbecue and embers [2]. It gives an outer size of 18 × 12.5 × 2 cm but does not say which table machines they fit [2], so compare them with your machine's measurements.

2. Non-stick or not?

Non-stick coated Cast iron Uncoated stainless steel
Cheese comes away easily not stated by the retailer [2] «a little less easily» than coated [3]
Scratches the coating is delicate; use only wooden or plastic spatulas [5] – «not sensitive to scratches» [3]
Over a flame or embers do not hold directly over a gas or charcoal fire (BfR on PTFE) [6] according to the retailer, can go «straight into the fire or hot embers» [2] Creasteel: heat-resistant up to 370 °C [4]
Weight light 480 g per pan [2] 0.65–0.7 kg (long models) [3][4]
Dishwasher Kassensturz advises washing coated grill plates by hand [7]; vergleiche.ch: dishwasher possible [5]; the manufacturer's instructions decide not stated by the retailer [2] Creasteel: not dishwasher-safe [4]

Most table raclette machines come with coated pans. The Koenig «Raclette 4 and more», for example, has 4 non-stick pans and 4 plastic scrapers [8]. In the Kassensturz test, the cheese could simply be poured out of this machine's pans [7].

On PTFE coatings, the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) states that health concerns arise only when empty cookware is strongly overheated [6].

4. How many pans?

The Molkerei Lanz, for example, rents out machines for 8 with 8 pans and 8 scrapers [9]. If you have more guests, you can rent a machine instead of buying extra pans: see Renting a raclette oven in Switzerland.

For what to put in the pan besides cheese, see Raclette sides. Swissmilk also has its own pan recipes, such as «Speck & Früchte» (bacon and fruit) or «Sauerkraut & Apfel» (sauerkraut and apple) [10].
